Day by Day
Kigali
Arrive in Kigali and meet the local guide. Explore the city at a thoughtful pace and visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, allowing time to understand Rwanda's recent history and the country's remarkable transformation. Overnight in Kigali.
Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund for an engaging introduction to mountain-gorilla research and conservation. Continue through the hills toward Musanze and Volcanoes National Park, arriving at the lodge with time for a briefing and an early evening.
Gorilla Trekking
Meet the park team for a briefing before entering the forest with guides and trackers. Trek length and terrain vary according to the gorilla family's location. Once the family is found, spend one regulated hour observing their behavior before returning to the trailhead and lodge.
Volcanoes National Park
Choose an experience according to interests and fitness. Options may include golden-monkey tracking, a hike to the Dian Fossey gravesite, a more demanding Mount Bisoke ascent, or exploration of the Musanze caves. The selection should be confirmed in advance and remains subject to permits and conditions.
Departure
Return toward Kigali for the onward flight. Depending on departure time, add a local market, gallery, coffee experience, or relaxed lunch before the airport. The journey may also connect with a safari elsewhere in East Africa.
